Thanks for Donating Over 200 Coats

asheville coat drive eblen charities diamond brand outdoorsThanks for helping us collect over 200 coats for Eblen Charities. As the lowest temperatures of winter hit the mountains, they’ll make sure they make it to those in our community who need them the most.

During November and December, we joined with Diamond Brand Outdoors and our customers to collect coats, hats, and gloves for the second year in row. Thanks for showing us the great things that can happen when we all join forces to strengthen our community!

If you didn’t get a chance to drop off any items, you can support Eblen Charities with a donation or as a volunteer.

Eblen Charities is a non-profit organization whose outreach extends throughout the counties of Western North Carolina and through its numerous programs has helped thousands upon thousand of families each year with medical and emergency assistance through more than 70 programs yearly throughout the region.

$10 Gear Card For Donating Supplies For Firefighters

The past few weeks have been devastating for our local forests with an estimated 45,000+ acres burning due to severe drought. The North Carolina Forest Service says it may take until January to contain all the fires. Luckily, firefighters from around the country are here to help battle the wildfires, but they are in need of supplies. We need your help to protect our backyard.

This Friday, we’ll give you a free $10 gear card if you bring any of the supplies listed below to Frugal Backpacker in Westgate Plaza (52 Westgate Parkway in Asheville). We’ll drop off the supplies at Fairview Fire Department for firefighters and those displaced by the blaze. Gear cards can be used on anything in the store. There is a limit of one gear card per person.

Needed items include:

  • Water, Powerade, and Gatorade
  • Protein-heavy foods such as beef jerky and protein bars
  • Lip balm
  • Eye drops
  • Facial moisturizer
  • Baby wipes
  • Lotion (travel size)
  • Shampoo and conditioner (travel size)
  • Shaving supplies (travel size)
  • Hand warmers
  • Hiking socks

We’re also donating 75 pairs of high performance Wigwam hiking socks. Updated information about several of the active fires in the region can be found at Romantic Asheville.

Our annual Bundle Up for Good coat drive to benefit Eblen Charities begins on Saturday, November 19. You’ll receive 20% off an item for donating a gently-used coat.
