Outdoor photography opportunities abound in western North Carolina. Endless mountain vistas, dense collections of waterfalls, a population with an affinity for outdoor adventure sports, and miles of wild trails, rivers, and pristine national forests are but a few treasures that make this area especially appealing to photographers.
This course will help empower lovers of the outdoors to capture its natural beauty through their own meaningful, creative, and inspired approach to the art of photography. Particular attention will be paid to taking advantage of opportunities within WNC, but techniques discussed will be applicable to any outdoor photography.
We will focus on how lighting and composition, the use of various gear/equipment, and best practices on the location and behind the lens can allow anyone to obtain outstanding shots of their favorite places and activities. Elements of landscape, macro, long exposure, and portrait photography will all be used to teach attendees how to get the best out of their photos.
The course is open to photographers using all types of cameras, though some segments are geared to those using DSLR, mirrorless, and/or film cameras. However those that use point and shoots or smartphones will find the other aspects of the course useful in their practice. Whether a seasoned veteran looking to gain a few tips and insights, or beginner with a desire to embark on their own creative journey with outdoor photography, the course is also designed to be informative for all skill levels.
